Rhythm of nature

WINTER WALK
Wander along the beach, through the Muy, or through the Slufter; the backyard of Boutique Hotel Texel. This unique nature reserve has an open connection with the sea, creating a salt marsh landscape. In every season and all weather conditions, this is a beautiful area to explore.

Or, take the natural connection to the next level and scan the QR code for a lovely "SOUNDWALK" through the surroundings of our hotel. You'll be guided through the farmlands towards the Slufter and get a glimpse of life in the polder along the way.

STARRY SPLENDOR
Texel is one of the rare places in the Netherlands where it is still truly dark, especially in winter.

The perfect location to stargaze! So, don’t forget to look up during your stay or evening walk and enjoy the beauty of the stars.

At the observatory of Volkssterrenwacht De Jager, near Ecomare, you can admire the stars with fixed telescopes or the free-standing binoculars during the winter season.

WINTER HORSE-DRAWN CARRIAGE RIDE
Experience the Texel nature in winter with a horse-drawn carriage ride with Puur Texel or the Jan Plezier. Along the way, enjoy a warm drink and cookies. During the Christmas holidays, the Jan Plezier offers special winter rides through the forest.

NATURE MUSEUM ECOMARE
Nature lovers can spend hours at Ecomare, a nature museum and seal rescue center. Discover various exhibitions about the Wadden Sea World Heritage site, the North Sea, and the nature of Texel. Additionally, it’s a seal and bird rescue center where you can observe these animals up close.

Art & Culture

Winter is the perfect time to dive into a museum and nourish your cultural heart.

JUTTERS MUSEUM FLORA - De Koog
Take a peek inside the TESO (Texel Eigen Stoomboot Onderneming) wheelhouse, embark on a treasure hunt through the museum. Each barn and room surprises with numerous finds. Looking for that one right shoe? Over 80 years of beach finds. A surprising Texel experience suitable for families and larger groups

MUSEUM KAAP SKIL - Oudeschild
Merchant ships, war fleets, whalers—these all anchored at the Reede of Texel. In the 17th century, Texel was the place to load and unload, waiting for favorable winds. Museum Kaap Skil offers an inspiring journey through the VOC era and underwater discoveries, with the highlight being the dress from the palm wood wreck.

AVIATION & WAR MUSEUM - Eierland
Next to the hotel, you’ll find De Vlijt, Texel’s airport. At the airport is the Aviation and War Museum. An impressive exhibition about the period 1940-1945, with a central focus on the Russian war, the tragic revolt of Georgian soldiers in German military service. This turned Texel into ‘Europe's last battlefield’ in April 1945.

WHALER'S HOUSE - Den Hoorn
Step into the 18th-century whalers' world at the Whaler's House. There are beds, utensils from bygone times, and 18th-century Harlingen tiles. The enthusiastic volunteers will tell you all about whaling during the guided tour.

HOME IS WHERE THE HEAT IS
Coming home “windblown” at Boutique Hotel Texel. After a refreshing day out, nothing is as nice as relaxing by the cozy fireplace in the lounge, enjoying a warm cup of tea or a good glass of wine, a nice book, and just being in the moment.

Or perhaps you're in the mood for a cozy movie night in your room? That can also be arranged with a movie night package. Popcorn, treats, and a drink—we'll bring it with love.

WARMING UP IN WOOL
Need to warm up again? Relax and heat up in our spa, or book a unique Texel Woolbath.

The specially designed cradle used for the wool bath contributes to a feeling of old-fashioned comfort and relaxation.

During this woolness treatment, your body temperature rises, and the warmth helps relax your muscles and joints.
Now that’s a perfect way to unwind!
